I am black. I am Zimbabwean by birth. I am educated to A level Sciences, Maths, Chemistry, and Biology, which I passed well. I also have 8 GCSE equivalent. Retired at 26 from the personal trade. Have travelled to USA, Canada, UK, Eurpean mainland, Australia, Southern Africa, East Africa, North Africa, west Africa.
The women closest to me were all killed by their husbands through HIV. I have it.
Rape is very popular in my country and it is not yet a real crime. Dry sex (sex when the woman is not wet) is also very popular. Married women go to all lengths to stop themselves getting wet, using detergents inside their vaginas and causing themselves damage and increasing their proneness to HIV infection from the same husbands they are trying to please. What choice do married women have when the man is king by virtue of a penis? Dry sex is not yet a social crime in the African mind, but it should be. It will only be when women are in parliament and can take part in discussions. For now only anal sex is a crime in certain countries, because it is viewed as protecting men. Women are never worthy of the same level of protection.
Despite ARVs, I know that my life will be shorter than is natural because of HIV. The purpose of this blog is to give an account of what actually goes on in the life of a sex worker and her clients and how that relates to society at large.
It is also to show categorically that the control of STIs is dependent only on the control of men, and not, as popularly assumed, the control of sex workers. Men hold the key to all sexual activity in the SADC societies and it is them who spread HIV.
Your sexual safety is your responsibility alone. No sex worker will or should help you in that. If you do not want to take that responsibility, you will find sex workers ready to do nothing about you NOT taking your responsibility. They already are HIV poistive so they have nothing to lose. Its your money we are after and once you arrive we will have your money and truthfully, if we could have that off you without having sex with you, we would, but you insist on having sex after you give us the money. Most of you also insist on NOT using condoms. So you are responsible for your wife's health, not us. We don't care about your wives. They are not members of our families. we do not know them personally. We are not social workers or primary health operatives. We are Sex workers and most of us are HIV positive.
All questions and comments that relate to the issues raised here will be answered. Insults which are off topic will be ignored.
If You are HIV NEGATIVE!!
I got up this morning and thought that most people who are HIV negative have no idea what they could lose and how easy it is to lose it. I hear many men talk about going round with condoms in their pockets or cars, just in case they get a willing woman somewhere. They do not realise how close HIV is at all times.
At the risk of stating the obvious, it is a very lonely road once you are positive. If you have to experience it to appreciate it, then please go ahead, but I can tell you now that you will walk a difficult path for the rest of your days.
Charities I Support
In 2005, it was impressed on me to help out in Zimbabwe. My siblings and I had our childhood cut short by losing our parents. It would have helped if we had had someone to assume the role os parent after that, but the man who did turned out to be the man who became my rapist. In the end I became the parent to others. I have watched a lot of children go through the same or worse. I have seen children born with HIV then lose their parents and not have anyone look after them.
My first action was to have my womb out so I cannot ever have a child whom I would have have to make an orphan soon.
I think if you cannot take in an orphaned child yourself, then you should perhaps try to give a little money to help out. There are many orphanages in Zimbabwe and many do a good job under difficult circumstances.
I will list some here later.
Holidays in Namibia
If you want a really nice holiday look up Namibia. There are many places you could go that are picturesque. The rate of crime is very low compared to elsewhere in the SADC.
If you have sex with Namibian sex workers or Zambabweans working in Namibia (as is the case more) please pay them well and wear condoms at all times. They need the money. Zimbabweans send money home to starving relatives.
I have really found Namibia to be a restful place.
